Program Planner DOCS & HELP

Settings & Text Manager

Colors, texts, default views, live ticker and API – this is where you define once how the whole system behaves. Everything is under Events → Settings.

The seven tabs

Each tab has its own form and saves on its own. So save before you switch tabs.

The name “Live-Ticker & Monitor”

The suffix “& Monitor” only appears when an add-on such as the Room Monitor adds its own card to this tab. Without an add-on the tab is simply called “Live-Ticker”.

Design & Options

The “Design & Options” tab: the placeholder image at the top, the color pickers with live preview below.

Images & placeholders

The default placeholder image appears wherever a session has no image of its own. The order is always: featured image of the session → image of the venue → placeholder image. A landscape image (about 16:9) suits the grid tiles best.

Colors & live preview

Above the color pickers, a small preview shows tabs, button, card, live area and card footer. Every change is visible there at once – before you save.

Functions & defaults

AreaSettingDefault and effect
Color highlightingColor sourceVenue color or category color. Sets the accent color of tiles, list rows, cards, ticker and timetable tiles. Room column headers in the timetable, the hall plan and the color dots in the venue filter always keep the venue color. If a term has no color of its own, its parent’s color applies, otherwise the primary color.
Detail pageURL slugevents – e.g. /events/opening.
Detail pageDetail pageOwn page or pop-up. Can be overridden per session in the click action.
Detail pageOpen inSame or new window; can be overridden per session.
Detail pageButton for external linkShows “More Information” below the description if an external link is set.
Detail pageRelated eventsMore dates on the detail page and pop-up. When switched off, the section isn’t even calculated.

SpeakersURL basespeakers – e.g. /speakers/jane-doe.

SpeakersAppearancesList of appearances on the speaker page; with smart display only upcoming ones, as long as there are any.

Calendar viewEntries per page12; leave empty to reset to the default.
Calendar viewPaginationPage numbers, “Load more” button or all entries at once.
Calendar viewView switcherGrid/list buttons in the toolbar.
Filter & searchFilter layoutClassic, modern (tiles) or desktop classic / mobile modern.
Filter & searchFloating search barCompact bar at the bottom of the screen on phones and tablets. Default: off.
Filter & search“All Categories”Shows the category filter. Default: off.
ActionsiCal alarm10 minutes reminder in the calendar file; 0 for none.
ActionsShareShare button on the detail page and in the compact card.
ActionsTicket systemFive independent switches, all on by default – see below.

The five ticket switches

Whether a ticket icon appears is decided by a chain: the session needs a ticket URL, must not have “Hide tickets” set – and the switch for that particular place must be on.

SwitchAffects
Ticket button in the toolboxOnly the button in the calendar toolbar. The icons in grid and list stay.
Ticket icons in grid and list viewThe icons on the individual sessions.
Button on the detail pageThe ticket button on the detail page and in the pop-up.
Ticket button in the compact cardAll [event_card]; the shortcode parameter takes precedence.
Ticket icons in the timetableThe icons in the timetable view.
Changed the slug – now what?

If you change the URL slug for events or speakers, WordPress rebuilds its address rules automatically on the next request. Old addresses stop working – update menus and links. If a detail page still returns “Page not found”, save Settings → Permalinks once without changes.

Text & Labels

The “Text & Labels” tab: each group expands on its own; the technical name on the left, the text your guests see on the right.

Every word your guests see in the calendar, ticker or pop-up can be changed here without code – whether you prefer “Watchlist” to “Favorites” or want “Dropped” instead of “Cancelled”. The fields are sorted into groups that expand and collapse individually; the editor remembers per user which ones were open.

GroupExamples
Toolbar & FilterSearch field, “All Venues”, “Upcoming only”, “Reset filter”
Buttons & ViewGrid, List, My Favorites, Ticket, Share, Load more, doors open/close in the timetable
PaginationPrevious, Next, Entries, Next Day
Table & ListsColumn headers of the list view
Status & MessagesLoading notes, “Cancelled”, “No events found”, spam notice
Modal TitlesHeadings of the share and iCal windows
Detail PageBack, Time, Price, Language, Exhibitor, More Information, share intro
Weekdays and monthsLong and short names, “today”, “tomorrow”
Live-View (Ticker)“Ongoing”, “Upcoming”, LIVE, countdown text, swipe hint

Add-ons like the Room Monitor add their own groups. An empty field resets the text to its default; the default is shown as a grey placeholder in the field.

Texts are part of the settings backup

Your changed texts are included in the settings backup under Import / Export – handy before updates or for a second website.

Live-Ticker (& Monitor)

The “Live-Ticker & Monitor” tab: preload values and refresh rate at the top, the Room Monitor add-on card below.
SettingDefaultMeaning
Ticker: preload window720 hours (30 days)How far ahead the ticker preloads. At most 8760 hours.
Ticker: preload limit200Maximum number of preloaded sessions. At most 500; above 200 is not recommended.
Ticker: Smart UpdateonPauses updates while the browser tab is in the background and catches up immediately on return.
Global: refresh rate15 minutesHow often live tickers and room monitors ask the server for changes. 1 to 60 minutes.
PhaseRecommended rate
Event is running10–15 minutes – fast enough for short-term changes
Before, schedule largely fixed30–60 minutes
Extremely many last-minute changes5 minutes as the lower limit – one minute is almost always overkill

For offline operation, the ticker shortcode additionally needs preload_images="true". The Room Monitor add-on card is described in the add-on overview.

Security & Maintenance

SettingDefaultMeaning
Favorites spam protection1 secondMinimum interval per IP address between two counted favorite clicks (0–10, 0 = off). Only affects the statistics – the guest’s heart always reacts at once.
CSV import: imagesonImages from the image_url column are downloaded and attached.
CSV import: descriptionsonShort and full descriptions may be set and overwritten by import.
Delete data on uninstalloffDeletes all sessions, venues, categories and settings when the plugin is removed.

Uploaded CSV files are checked for malicious code (PHP, scripts, HTML tags) regardless of these switches; forbidden content is always blocked.

Danger zone

If “Delete data on uninstall” is active, deleting the plugin destroys all program data irrevocably. The “Download CSV Backup first” button right below leads to the export.
