Speaker Detail Page & Appearances

Every public speaker has a detail view of their own with portrait, description, links and all appearances. And on every session, your guests see who else takes part besides the main person.

The speaker page

The speaker detail view as a pop-up: portrait in front of a blurred background, role, name, position and company, language, description, links and appearances.
  1. 1
    Portrait

Behind the image lies an enlarged, blurred copy across the full width – like video platforms do with portrait videos. The portrait stays fully visible; nothing is cropped.

  2. 2
    Details and text

Role, name, “Position · Company” and language, followed by the full text and the links in the familiar button design.

  3. 3
    Appearances

Upcoming appearances are shown openly; if there are none, “No upcoming dates” appears. Past ones sit behind a button with their count, newest first. Each tile also names the main event with its year – handy when the same format runs over several years.

  4. 4
    Exhibitor booths

With the exhibitor plugin: all of the person’s booths with logo, country, type, location and booth number – one per event. A booth counts as upcoming until the end of its last event day; past booths sit behind a button like the appearances.

Page or pop-up?

Under Settings → Design & Options → Speaker detail view: “Same as events” (default) follows the choice for sessions; alternatively “Separate page” (own address, e.g. /speakers/jane-doe/, good for linking) or “Pop-up modal”. The URL path for speakers is set there too.

SettingEffect
Speaker: appearancesShows or hides the “Appearances” section.
Smart display of appearancesWhile upcoming appearances exist, past ones are hidden. Once there are none left – typically after the event –, the past ones reappear. Switched off, both are always shown (past ones collapsed).

Both can be overridden per directory (show_events, smart_events, see Speaker directory).

What your guests see on a session

A session with three people: the first in the header, and all three below under “Further participants” with image, position and company.
AreaBehavior
HeaderThe first person appears below the title image as usual, with their role as heading.
Further participantsIf more people take part, a list with image, name, position and company appears between description and categories. Its heading is the plural label of the most frequent role among them (e.g. “Authors”, if set on the role); if nobody has a role, it reads “Further Participants”.
Hover cardIf a speaker record is linked, hovering over the name shows a small card with image, position and company. On touch devices, a tap goes straight to the target.
Click targetA click on the name leads – depending on the setting in the row – to the speaker page, the profile URL, the exhibitor or nowhere.
ExhibitorWith the exhibitor plugin: the linked exhibitor as a card of its own with logo, name, type and country. Top right on wide screens, next to the price on medium ones, below the role on phones.
The first person twice?

If the first person has a record of their own, they are included in the “Further participants” list. Otherwise the list would read like the complete enumeration of participants – and anyone skimming the header would think the main person was not involved.
