The compact card [event_card id="…"] shows a single session as a small card – ideal for highlighting a session on the home page, in a blog post or next to a sponsor text.
Structure of the card
| Area | Content |
|---|---|
| Date tile | Weekday, day, month and year of the session. |
| Title | The session title (can be hidden with hide_title="true"). Cancelled sessions are marked in red. |
| Details | Time, venue, the first person with their role, and the language – empty details are left out. |
| Actions | Ticket (if a ticket URL is set), “Add to Favorites”, “Save Date” (iCal) and “Share”. |
Embedding a card
- 1Find the ID
The card needs the WordPress post ID of the session. It is shown in All Events in the “ID” column on the far left – a click copies it. Easier: the shortcode generator lets you pick the session from a list.
- 2Add the shortcode
A “Shortcode” block where you want it, e.g.
[event_card id="123"]. - 3Adjust
Use the parameters below to hide parts or switch the buttons to icons only.

[event_card id="123" hide_share="true" hide_ical="true"]Whether ticket and share buttons appear in compact cards at all is controlled by two switches under Settings → Design & Options (“Ticket button in compact event card”, “Share button in compact event card”). Shortcode parameters take precedence. The color of the card footer is set with the colors (“Background card footer”).
For sidebars, the same card exists as the “Event Highlight Card” widget – with a list of the next 50 sessions to choose from. See Widgets.
